Swim To Bestival

Swim To Bestival

What better way to arrive at Bestival than with a bracing charity swim across the Solent? With Navy lifeguards on hand in case you get a bit knackered and Miguel Mantovani from The Cuban Brothers screaming encouragement into a megaphone from his rubber dinghy, this is the way to travel!

Yasmin (who famously came to Bestival 2005 as an Indian Takeaway) and her Hularama gang (you know, the people who bring Hula-Hoops to Bestival each year for you to play with) organised this for the first time for Bestival 2007 and it was a resounding success. Check out our photo gallery for the evidence!

Such a success, in fact, that we have since had literally 100s of you emailing and calling us expressing an interest in doing it in 2008. However, and its a big HOWEVER unfortunately, we have once again been legally limited to just 12 swimmers and these places have now been taken so BIG apologies to all those of you that missed out!

The swim will be across approximately 3 miles of exceptionally cold choppy open water, within which lurks all kinds of sea creatures (including sharks...aaahhhh!!). The swimmers will depart from Gosport and arrive at Ryde.

The swim will be raising money for charity. More info on this soon...
