Physics In The Field

Physics in the Field

The Physics in the Field team of buskers will be performing physics tricks outside the Jestival tent, 12noon - 5pm everyday. Physics tricks are hand-held demonstrations using things you can find at home, and in keeping with Bestival’s under-the-sea theme, all of the tricks will relate to the physics of the sea.

Try your hand at making a miniature submarine dive to the bottom of a pop bottle, or turn a glass of water over someone’s head without drenching them. You can even use a coat hanger to find out how whales communicate with each other over thousands of miles, and discover what would happen to a marshmallow at great depths.

And if you want to score a quick heads-up, all the tricks performed by the team (including making balloon kebabs, launching Alka Seltzer rockets or turning pints of water upside down over a friend’s head without drenching them) are available on www.physics.org with full explanations.
