Headlining the second stage on the Saturday night this year with a special Laptop set we welcome with open arms Mr Richard D James a.k.a. Aphex Twin.
One of the most creative minds in electronic music for the last 18 years, he has recorded under a plethora of monikers but it is as Aphex Twin that he produced his most influential, groundbreaking work.
His first 2 full length albums, Selected Ambient Works 85-92 and Selected Ambient Works vol. 2, were both hailed as masterpieces which immediately resulted in the man being talked about in the same breath as the likes of The Orb and Brian Eno.
Through the years Aphex Twin has gone on to create some of the finest electronic music ever realised, from his earliest work on releases such as Digeridoo he has foreshadowed genre after genre from acid house to drum and bass to minimal techno and proved himself time and again as a true maverick who continually explores the possibilities inherent in electronica and far beyond.
His DJ sets and laptop perfomances are never less than intelligent, considered and ultimately powerful exercises in the pushing of boundaries, with litle respect for rules and convention this is sure to be a highlight of this year's festival.
